Host plant

A host plant is a plant on which an organism or virus can reproduce. The term host plant is often used in combination with nematodes. If a plant is a poor host, little reproduction will take place. A good host plant will greater multiply the organism. The host plant suitability depends on the degree of resistance of a crop.
