Saturation value
Saturation value reflects the saturation of the feed material and is related to the calculated feed intake capacity of a cow. A cow can absorb feed until the maximum calculated satiety value is reached. Well-digested silage often has a low saturation value, allowing cows to absorb more. Concentrated feed often has a saturation value of around 0.3. The satiety value is also related to the structure value. Silage with a high structure value have a high saturation.
